Our team had another close match on Monday afternoon, this time against league leaders, Kingsdown.
The girls started strongly, and Ellie in attack caused the Kingsdown defence concern. However, we were not able to score from any of our attacks, and we changed ends at 0-0.
In the second half, Kingsdown were the more dominant side and we had to defend resolutely; both Ruby and Alisha worked really hard to support our defence from their midfield positions. However, we did come close to breaking the deadlock ourselves with a good long range effort on goal, which hit their post. We were then back to defending and Kaitlin saved us by producing a wonderful goal line clearance. Then in the final minute, we conceded a penalty (by handball). Kingsdown converted the penalty to win 0-1.
Bad luck girls. You played very well, and as always, you showed great commitment and team spirit throughout the match.
Thank you to all the family and friends who supported us on such a bitterly cold afternoon.
