Wins for A and B Girls’ Football Teams at Kingsdown.

On Thursday 23rd February we travelled to Kingsdown and Ringwould C of E Primary School, on a very windy afternoon for our double fixture.
The first match was the league game between the A teams. We found ourselves kicking uphill, against Storm Doris, into the sun, in the first half. Both teams battled hard, but the windy conditions were not conducive to flowing football. Hence, we were very happy to reach half-time at 0-0. In the second half, the game became more open for us. With the wind now in our favour, we were able to utilise Ella’s drop kicks as an attacking option, and Leyana made many breaks for us from midfield down the wings, in order to feed dangerous balls into the box. Aggie was able to latch onto one of these passes and score her first ever goal for Deal Parochial; a very important goal which gave us a 1-0 win.
The second match was a friendly between the B teams. The teams were evenly matched as the girls became accustomed to playing in a competitive game, in what were still very windy conditions. However, Ella (our first team goalie, who played out on pitch to make up the numbers for us) became more influential as the match progressed and scored our goal in the second half. At the other end of the pitch, Chloe, making her debut in goal, looked very assured throughout and kept a clean sheet. It ensured we won 1-0.
I was delighted for both teams that their effort and commitment were rewarded by wins; well done girls. Also, thank you to Mr Knight and to the parents who helped with the transport to Kingsdown.
