Girls’ Football Friendly: Warden House v Deal Parochial
Girls’ Football Friendly: Warden House 5 Deal Parochial 2
We took part in a very entertaining friendly match at Warden House on Tuesday 28th March.
As it was 6-a-side, it was a very open match, and the Warden House playmaker took advantage of the space to create 3 goals in the first half. Unfortunately, we were without our influential captain, Leyana, (due to illness), but to the girls’ credit, their heads never dropped and they played with lots of commitment and made several good chances in the first half; one of these Aggie scored, only to find it was sadly disallowed.
After half-time, we change formation with the introduction of Ellie as striker and reaped the rewards almost immediately with her scoring. Our girls also scored a wonderful second goal – a fantastic drop kick from Ella, which Katelyn controlled and then passed through to Ellie, who scored!
Warden House continued to be dangerous in attack in the second half, but Kate and Zoe in defence made many timely tackles and interceptions in order to limit Warden House to only 2 more goals.
Although we lost 5-2, I was very proud of all our players’ effort and commitment, and I thought it was the best match performance I had seen from Aggie, Charlie, Zoe and Ellie (our year 5 players), which is a big positive for next season!
