Charley, Che, Jack and Liam are County Runners-Up in 8U Team Tennis.

On May 17th, the Deal Parochial Year 3 Boys’ Tennis Team (Charley, Che, Jack and Liam) entered the Kent LTA’s Primary Schools’ 8U Team Tennis Tournament held at Bromley.
Nine teams took part from eight schools, with Deal Parochial being the only school from East Kent.
The tournament was in round robin format. Each team played a series of 6 matches (4 singles and 2 doubles) against each of the other teams in their group. The first team we played was the first team from Sevenoaks Primary School. After the singles, the score was finely balanced at 2-2, however, the Deal Parochial boys were dominant in the doubles, and so ended the tie as 4-2 winners. Our second tie in our box was against Russell House. Our boys continued to play with both consistency and accuracy and won 6-0. As group winners, Deal Parochial progressed to another round robin box where they met the other group winners. The first match verses St Michael’s Prep School from Sevenoaks produced several close matches with many fine rallies and good play, but sadly we lost 5-1. However, the boys became determined to finish on a high and produced some more fantastic tennis to beat the other team 4-2, so finishing as overall runners-up.
Well done, boys! Being County Runners’ Up is a truly amazing achievement, especially considering the relatively short period of time you have all been playing tennis. Well done!
