Great Performance By Girls’ Football Team at Dover School Games

This year’s Dover School Games Tournament for Y5 / Y6 girls’ football took place at Goodwin Academy on 10 OCT 17.  16 teams were participating, representing 15 primary schools from across the Deal and Dover area.
Our girls were very competitive in all their matches, with influential performances from every player in our squad; this was very pleasing, especially since 4 of our players were making their debuts for the school.
We won our round robin group with a 2-0 win over Guston (with goals from Ellie and Lulu), a 0-0 draw verses River, and then a 1-0 win against Green Park, when Lulu poached a goal from Olivia’s wonderfully long, drop kick.
In the quarter-finals, we met Kingsdown A. This match was very close and finished 0-0. What followed was an epic penalty shoot out, which we sadly lost 3 -2. However, I was very impressed and proud of the mature and sporting manner in which our girls responded to losing on penalties.
Well done girls – you were all a credit to our school.  Also, thank you to all the parents who came and supported us.
Mrs Hodgson
