DEAL PAROCHIAL vs SEVENOAKS PRIMARY SCHOOL – ORANGE BALL TENNIS COMPETITION.

On Thursday 25th January, we hosted a 12-strong team of aspiring, young tennis players from Sevenoaks Primary School.
We commenced their visit with a tour of our school, before they sat down for a delicious, early lunch with their Deal Parochial tennis counterparts.  Then, after a brisk walk to the Deal Indoor Tennis Centre (DITC), the children were ready to start their tennis.
35 matches (28 singles and 7 doubles) took place. All these matches were in timed tennis format with a lot of the resulting play being of a very high standard with lots of excellent shots and rallies.  Many matches were very close and it was great to see such good sportsmanship being displayed by children from both teams.
The Deal Parochial team were the overall winners by 87 points to 53 points. This competition proved to be a wonderful, positive experience of tournament tennis play for all the children and will help them all to improve as players.
Thank you to the tennis players from Sevenoaks Primary School for making the long journey down to Deal to participate in this tournament. Also, thank you to:
  • Our cook, Jude, for producing the early lunch for us.
  • All the parents from both Deal Parochial and Sevenoaks for helping with the walk to and from DITC, as well as scoring the matches.
  • All the parents who came to watch and support their children in their wonderful afternoon of tennis.
