Swimmers take part in Dover School Games Swimming Gala

On Friday 9th March eight of our talented KS2 swimmers took part in the annual Dover Primary School Games Swimming Gala at Dover Leisure Centre. Our Year 3&4 swimmers were Rosie, Thomas, Elouise & Bobby and our Year 5&6 swimmers were Kaitlin, Marcus, Jasmine & Callum.

A special well done to Elouise in what was her very first swimming gala and who gained a silver medal for Year 3&4 25m backstroke, with a time of 27.04. There was some fantastic swimming from Thomas who gained a silver medal for the Year 3&4 25m front crawl, with a time of 20.57. Also, Kaitlin did brilliantly getting through to the Year 5&6 final in 25m breast stroke, coming 4th with a time of 21.88. There was more excitement when our Year 5&6 team of Kaitlin, Jasmine, Marcus & Thomas got through to the final in the Year 5&6 100m medley relay. Marcus started the medley swimming backstroke, Jasmine then took over to swim breaststroke, followed by Kaitlin diving in to swim butterfly and Thomas finished the face with front crawl.

I was so proud of all the children, as they all did their absolute best in all their races and most of all had lots of fun, working fantastically as a team! Overall we came 8th out of 12 schools, which I think is brilliant for a small school.

Thank you so much to all the parent helpers on the day, we really couldn’t have given the children this opportunity without you. A special thank you goes out to Mr Bakridan who very kindly donated some wonderful personalised swim hats. Lots of parents commented how easy it was to see the children from the balcony because of their green hats!
