3rd Place for Che and Bobby in Primary Schools’ County Tennis Finals.

Che (Y4), Bobby (Y3), Ruby (Y4) and Mia (Y4) all participated in the Kent LTA’s Primary Schools’ Orange Ball Doubles Tennis Finals at Bromley on 22nd June 2018. Both the competitions were for pupils from Y5 and below.
In the boys’ tournament, Che had qualified with Jack (Y4) from the Canterbury heats on 14th June 2018.  However, poor Jack could not take his place in the Finals due to illness. Bobby (Y3) was asked to partner Che in Jack’s absence, and he and Che had a fantastic tournament, showing great maturity in their play, as they progressed to the semi-finals. Their semi-final proved to be a very close match with them eventually losing 9 points to 8 points.  However, they bounced back by convincingly winning their play-off match to finish 3rd overall. This was a wonderful effort by both boys, especially considering they had never played competitively together before.
In the girls’ tournament, Ruby and Mia had been called up as reserves following the withdrawal of another doubles pair. They were delighted to have the opportunity to take part in the Finals and played with great spirit and sportsmanship throughout. – Ruby’s leadership really shone through in their matches with excellent direction and calling of lines, since the children were having to umpire themselves.
Well done Che, Bobby, Ruby and Mia. – I was so proud of you all, and you were a credit to our school.
As always, thank you to the parents who provided transport and support for this event.
