Deal Parochial Reaches Semi-Finals of Girls’ Football Tournament in Dover Schools’ Games.

Eleven teams, representing 10 schools, took part in this year’s Dover Schools’ Games’ Girls’ Football Tournament at Goodwin Academy.
Our girls, a lot of whom were playing competitive football for the first time, played with great commitment and determination throughout. Solid performances in our round robin matches, which included two well-taken goals from Ruby, ensured we progressed to the semi-finals. There we played Wingham ‘A’ in a very evenly contested match. The game finished 0-0, meaning a penalty shootout ensued. Our new goalie, Rosie-Mae, and the Wingham keeper, both bravely stood firm in goal to save the very well struck penalties, but sadly for us, Wingham ‘A’ were the eventual winners by 1-0.
I was very proud of all our players. They showed great effort, enthusiasm, teamwork and sportsmanship, and their fine performances is testament to all their hard work in practices since the beginning of term. Well done everyone.
Mrs Hodgson.
