McCarthey Cup Girls’ Football Tournament.

On Friday 12 OCT 18, our girls’ football team took part in the McCarthey Cup at St Faith’s. Thirteen schools participated in this annual tournament.
Our girls played with great commitment, enthusiasm and sportsmanship throughout, and did not concede a goal all afternoon. In our first two evenly contested matches, we drew 0-0, with Rosie-Mae making 2 crucial saves to ensure her clean sheets. Then in our final round robin match, we won 1-0 with a very well taken goal by Ruby; having intercepted the ball near the half way line, Ruby then broke away to skilfully score in the far corner of the net. Although we did not make the semi-finals, narrowly missing out on goal difference, the girls were delighted to finish on a win.
Well done to everyone – you are a fantastic team. Special mention must go to Ellie and Mia, who made their debuts for the team. Also, many thanks to Grace’s Dad and Ava’s Mum, who both helped with the transport to the tournament.
