Kent Tennis Shortlists Deal Parochial for its 2018 Awards

Having won the Kent Tennis Award for Education in 2017, we were delighted to hear recently that we have been shortlisted again for this year’s Schools’ Award. This is in recognition of our continual growth of our tennis programme at Deal Parochial.

During 2018, we’ve expanded our after-school tennis programme at the Deal Indoor Tennis Centre, provided competitive opportunities for lots of children of varying ages and abilities, and marked out 3 mini-courts on our playground (following grants from The Tennis Foundation, Walmer Parish Council and Deal Rotary Club). The mini-courts allowed us to grow our tennis provision on school premises; please click here and here to see our mini-courts in use.  We also have had fantastic, inspiring school trips to watch tennis at both Wimbledon and the O2 Arena.

Additionally, we were thrilled to learn that Liam (Y5) has been shortlisted for Kent Tennis’ Young Person of 2018.  This recognises his wonderful contribution to our tennis programme throughout 2018, both in his volunteering to help young sponge ball players learn and play tennis, and for the manner in which he has represented the school in tennis competitions.
Well done Liam! You are a fantastic ambassador for our school tennis programme.
