Year 2 win the Inter-Class Virtual Team Tennis Challenge

In the week before half-term, 6 pupils from each class bubble from Y1-6 took part in our virtual inter-class ‘Back the Brits’ team tennis challenge.

In each class bubble, four of the pupils took part as a team in three tennis skill challenges (groundstrokes rallies, volley rallies and serving) to score points.  Meanwhile, the other two pupils did the ‘Chaser’ and the ‘Cardio-Beat’ programmes on our Acti-Alls to add more points to their team totals. A handicap system was then employed, multiplying each score by a factor based on the children’s age group. This ensured the younger children had a fair chance of winning.

The conclusion of the tournament on Friday 28th May proved to be very exciting, when the following results were announced:

Team Andy Murray (Y1) = 1076 points
Team Jamie Murray (Y3) = 1126 points
Team Kyle Edmund (Y6) = 1506 points
Team Joe Salisbury (Y4) = 1526 points
Team Heather Watson (Y5) = 1578 points
Team Johanna Konta (Y2) = 1620 points

So many congratulations to Casper, Jasper, Imogen, William, Jack and Alfie in Year 2.

Also, well done to everyone. – I was most impressed with the great level of sportsmanship and teamwork shown throughout the tournament. Well done!
