Laver Cup Tennis Trip

Wow, what a day we had on Thursday, 22 SEP 22. Twenty-nine children and thirteen staff and helpers travelled by train and underground to watch the Laver Cup Open Practice Session in the O2 Arena.

The atmosphere in the O2 was amazing. We had brilliant seats in the lower bowl of the Arena, really close to the tennis action. Initially we watched Team World; players such as Taylor Fritz, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Frances Tiafoe and Jack Sock, produced a fantastic array of shots and rallies as they practiced. After an hour, they departed the Arena near us, signing autographs as they went; one of our group was delighted to get Jack Sock’s autograph.

We then waited with anticipation for Team Europe to enter the Arena. The crowd went wild when Roger Federer led out Team Europe. We were then treated to the Awesome Foursome (Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray) all playing on one court together – something that had never happened before. What a memory to take home, together with all the other highlights of our day.

Many thanks to the LTA Schools Programme for giving us the tennis tickets.

Also, thank you to Daniel, Cherry, and our wonderful parent and grandparent helpers – without your help, we could not have run this trip and made so many life-long memories for our children. You are all Superstars; thank you.
