Girls’ Football – Winning Start to League Season.

It was a busy start of term for our girls’ football team.

On Wednesday 2nd November, we played St Mary’s in our first league fixture of the season. The girls played very well, winning 4-0. Everyone played their part, with a ‘clean sheet’ debut in goal for Amelie, strong defensive performances from Olivia and Amira, and with Erin, Savanna, Ella and Chanel working tirelessly in midfield and in attack. Ella scored twice, and also sent in the corner that took a deflection for our third goal. Our final goal was set up with some great team play and was well taken by Chanel.

Then on Monday 8th November, we travelled to Eastry Primary School for a friendly match. This gave a wonderful opportunity for some of our keen Y4 players to take part in a football match. All the girls played very well and improved as the game progressed. Early in the second half, Eastry scored to go ahead. However, our girls’ heads did not drop and they continued to work hard. Mid-way through the second half, Willow (Y4) did a fantastic run past several Eastry players before passing the ball to Ella, who scored. It was wonderful to see our players go immediately to Willow to congratulate her. Willow then also made the assist for Ella’s second goal, meaning we finished the game 2-1 winners.

Well done, everyone, for your two great wins. You showed great teamwork and commitment in both matches.

Many thanks to Ella’s Mum and Savanna’s Mum for helping with team transport to Eastry Primary School.
