Girls’ Football 2022

Our Girls’ Football team has been very busy this year.

The first match following the Festive break was against Warden House. This was in the Hammond Cup and it proved to be a fantastically close and exciting match with Ella scoring for us. However, the match eventually finished 2-1 to Warden House after extra time.

The next 4 matches were the girls’ remaining league matches (having drawn their first league match 0-0 against Kingsdown in November).

The first of these matches was against Eastry. The girls turned in a strong team performance winning 5-0 with 2 goals from Ella, 2 goals from Ellen, and a goal from Amelia following a fine assist from Tabby.

Next was a very competitive match against Cartwright and Kelsey. No goals from either team in this match, with our goalie, Naomi, making a crucial penalty save for us.

The following league match was against St Faith’s. Another game where the teams were evenly matched, and the defences worked hard to prevent many chances. However, in the second half, a dangerous ball in the box from Isla led to a goal line scramble between Chanel and St Faith’s goalie and defender, and eventually the ball ended up in their net to give us the winning goal.

The final match was against St Mary’s (Deal). Both teams show great effort and commitment in this match. Ella scored the decisive goal for us, breaking forward following a loose ball and confidently running in on goal before making the net bulge with her well struck shot.

Our wonderful results have been due to our team playing with great enthusiasm, commitment, sportsmanship, and team spirit throughout the season. We did not concede a goal in any of our league matches due to brilliant goal keeping displays from Naomi and strong defensive performances across the matches from Phoebe, Olivia, Harriet, and Malika. Additionally, our fantastic midfielders always tracked back when needed to help our defence. Congratulations to everyone.

Also, thank you to all our wonderful parents who supported us, no matter the weather.
