Deal Parochial’s Summer League Tennis for 2023 (so far).
This summer we have had various teams playing successfully in the Kent Youth Tennis League during the weekends.
Our 10U tennis team of Casper and Jasper played two fixtures against the Kings Hill Community Tennis Club on the first Saturday of the May half-term.
In the very hot conditions, Casper and Jasper played the first fixture against the strong Kings Hill Community A team and then following a short break, played the Kings Hill Community C team. It was great to see how Casper and Jasper’s tennis improved with each match they played. Having lost all their matches 4-0 4-0 in their first fixture, Casper narrowly lost his singles against the C team on a tie break. Casper and Jasper then showed fantastic resilience and tactical awareness in the final match of the day (the doubles match vs the C team) to come back from a set down to win on the third set tie-break.
Well done, boys, on your great effort and commitment during every match.
We have also had some of our former pupils from our Outreach Club represent our School.
Year 9s, Luke and Jack, played in the 16U Boys’ League Round Robin at Hythe on 7th May. Despite some very good play, they lost their first fixture to Sellindge. However, following some awesome and resilient tennis, they won their 2nd fixture against Hythe by two matches to one. Well done to Luke and Jack who finished runners-up in their league.
Year 9’s, Ruby and Abigail, represented Deal Parochial in the 14U Girls’ League Round Robin at Kings Hill. The girls won their first fixture verses David Lloyd Kings Hill by clinching the deciding doubles match. Ruby and Abigail then started their next fixture against Kings Hill Community Tennis Club with the doubles match, which they lost 4-1 4-2. However, both girls played brilliantly to win their singles, Ruby by 4-3 4-0 and Abigail by 2-4, 4-3 1-0. Congratulations to both Ruby and Abigail for winning their league.
